The engine tuning specialists at McChip-DKR have developed a new software upgrade for the diesel engine to inject a bit of performance for the 3.0-liter V-6.

The common-rail, 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine in the Porsche Panamera is at the bottom-end of the model lineup in terms of power and performance. But, McChip-DKR set out to change the perception of the fuel-efficient engine by developing new software for the ECU in the Diesel variant.
The standard engine produces 250 horsepower and 406 lb-ft. of torque, but McChip-DKR was able to provide a healthy dose of power while keeping the impressive fuel economy and emissions intact. The software tune pushes output to 285 horsepower at 3,900 RPM and 443 lb-ft. of torque at 1,850 RPM for the 3.0-liter V-6. The added power also helps reduce the sprint to 62 mph by 0.5 seconds, down to 6.3 seconds and pushes back the top speed to 153 mph.

In addition to the software tune, McChip-DKR also added a set of H&R performance springs that lowers the ride height by 30 mm for better handling, and a set of new three-piece Cargraphic wheels. The front axle was equipped with a pair of 9 x 22 wheels while the rear staggers in with 10.5 x 22s. To improve handling, braking, and grip, the team installed 265/30R22 front and 295/25R22 rear Dunlop Sport Maxx GT high-performance tires.
All of the upgrades including the software tune are available for the Porsche Panamera Diesel from McChip-DKR. The tuning company also offers software upgrades for many other Porsche models. Pricing has not been released.
